I am a graduate student of Pierce Lab in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology Department of Harvard University. I study insect/microbial pathogen interactions mediated by host plant defensive systems with a tritrophic system, Arabidopsis, Pseudomonas syringae, and Tricholusia ni. I am interested in the questions: How insect resistance interplays with microbial pathogen resistance? How simultaneous attack by insects and microbial pathogens influences the evolution of plant defensive systems? How the interplay between the two types of resistance influences the stratgies of insect feeding and pathogen infection? Whether it drives the evolution of antagonistic or mutualistic interactions between insects and microbial pathogens which exploit on host plants together?
